Thank you for visiting Dell-ve into Nature.
This is a project based on the Dell in Eastfield: an open space surrounded by houses,
to the south of Scarborough.
The aim is to improve the site’s wildlife, education and amenity. The Dell covers
5.6 hectares: there are ponds, wildflower meadows, a beck and mature trees as well
as short grass to play and relax upon. Paths and boardwalks make access easy throughout.
Over a thousand new trees were planted down the centre of the park to create a new
hedge next to the old one (now no longer just a hedge!).
Incredibly diverse grass and wildflower areas provide nectar, pollen and seeds for
birds, insects and small mammals. The ponds are home to a variety of
bugs and amphibians,
with water supplied by the beck running the length of the site.
